Kitchen remodeling options
You do not have to start with a bigger kitchen. Start with what would make the existing room work better: somewhere to prepare food, cabinets that hold what you use, or a less crowded path between the counter and appliances.
A cabinet-and-counter update keeps the conversation focused on storage and finishes. A full redesign also considers appliance positions, openings and how the kitchen connects to nearby rooms. The first may fit when the arrangement already works. The second is worth exploring when the layout itself causes the frustration.

Cabinets, countertops and layout choices
For cabinets, separate appearance from function. List the things that need a home: cookware, small appliances, pantry food and everyday dishes. Then compare how the proposed drawers and shelves would hold them. New doors alone will not solve a storage layout you dislike.
For countertops, look at a physical sample and the manufacturer’s care instructions. Ask who measures, makes and installs the counter, and how sink and appliance openings will be checked. A surface that looks good in a photo may not suit the upkeep you want.
If you want an island, have its size tested against doors, seating and appliance use in the actual room. Do not order one simply because a similar kitchen has one. If the existing space cannot support the arrangement you want, ask for an alternative plan before paying for materials.
What should a kitchen remodeling quote include?
Ask for a proposal that covers the room, not just its most visible purchase. These are comparison prompts; the agreed project may include only some of them.
| Part of the work | Make the proposal clear about |
|---|---|
| Cabinets | Units, hardware, trim, delivery and fitting |
| Countertops | Material, measurement, cutouts, edges and installation |
| Appliances | Which stay, who buys replacements and who connects them |
| Existing kitchen | Removal, disposal and protection of nearby areas |
| Behind the finishes | Assessment, repair allowances and approval of extra work |
| Trade work | Plumbing, electrical and ventilation scope |
| Finishing | Backsplash, flooring, paint and repairs at the edges |
Check who coordinates each task and who answers questions when one trade depends on another. If an item is described as an allowance, ask how much is included and how a later selection changes the total.
Kitchen remodeling costs in Pompano Beach
Cabinet size and specification, counter selections, layout changes and the work found after removal all belong in the budget conversation. A cabinet price alone does not describe the cost of completing a kitchen.
Our cost guide gives attributed regional kitchen and bathroom price examples. They are planning references, not an average for every Pompano Beach home or a quote from this website. Compare proposals on the same included work before deciding that one is cheaper.
Kitchen renovations in condos and older houses
The city housing plan’s Table 33 reports that 72% of owner-occupied units were built between 1950 and 1979, using 2018–2022 data. Age does not establish the condition of a particular room. It is a reason to discuss what will be inspected before existing finishes are disturbed. Pompano Beach housing plan.
For a condo, ask how deliveries, debris and work affecting shared services will be arranged. The condo remodeling guide covers that conversation. The permit guide links the city’s requirements, including the narrower rules for eligible minor work.
Plan the work around your household
Before demolition, agree where food, appliances and kitchen belongings will go. Establish when water or cooking facilities may be unavailable, who receives deliveries and how the work area will be separated from everyday living space.
Ask for a sequence tied to product delivery and approvals, rather than a finish date based only on the day you enquire. Include a final walkthrough for missing fittings, surface repairs and items that need adjustment.
